The Mystery Blogger Award

This post is a story of life. Why? Because it is a result of quite a busy week.

I just had my first week at my new school, which was exciting, but overwhelming and exhausting. After trying to adjust to waking up early, finding my way around a much larger school than my old one, and processing new information, the weekend found me with limited mental energy left.

Now, don’t let anyone tell you being a writer is an easy job.

The thing is, it’s when the writer is tired and drained that writer’s block decides is the time to swoop.

And deadlines (even self-imposed ones, such as blogging schedules) don’t wait for writer’s block to pass over.

That is why I’m very grateful to my friend Zielle (Write in the Dark blog) for tagging me for the Mystery Blogger Award!

Blog tags aren’t something I’ll be doing frequently on True-Story, but today I’m going to. After staring at my laptop blankly for too long without any words coming, I decided this would be a good idea. I also thought this would be a fun way to tell you more about myself.

So here goes :).

1. What is the strangest story and/or blog post you have ever written?

So far, I don’t think I’ve written any blog posts that are too strange, but one of the first stories I ever wrote comes to mind. I was around six years old, and I wrote a story called “The Piggy and The Star”, complete with terrible spelling. It was about Miss Piggy, who was out for a stroll, but got lost once it got dark. Don’t worry- she made friends with a Star who showed her the way home, and the story ended with them having cookies and milk :). I actually wrote it for a competition, and got Highly Commended for it. That was probably what first got me interested in writing.

2. What is your current favourite book and why?

The toughest question you could ever ask any bookworm :). At the moment, I might go with The Book Thief by Markus Zuzak. I love it for the endearing characters, stunning descriptions, and the emotions the reader experiences. The last few chapters destroy me every time; it’s one of the few books that has made me properly cry.

3. Are you an extrovert, an ambivert, or an introvert?

After much discussion with my family and friends, we’ve officially decided I’m an ambivert. I can be quite extroverted around certain people, and in certain contexts, but I also can be pretty introverted. I tend to process things internally, I prefer working independently, and I need time on my own, away from people. But I do also enjoy spending time with people, and I can be quite outgoing.

4. Would you rather have one wish granted right now, or three wishes granted five years from now?

I would definitely choose three wishes granted five years from now. Partly because I don’t know what I would wish for right now. Also, I’m extremely indecisive, and I tend to over think things, so I would probably need five years to decide my wishes.

5. What qualities do you look for in a friend?

Genuineness. Down-to-earth-ness. Kindness. I’ve been blessed with many friends, and they’re all true-blue and have caring hearts. I think I value these qualities in a friend, because really, we all have these things. If we look deeper, remove any mask that hides who we truly are, what’s left is a beautiful, real human being.

Favourite blog post to write…

You have no clue how hard this is to decide. I’m going with “The light of Earendil’s star“, because I enjoyed writing it so much. It’s a story about the hope in the melancholy songs featuring in the movies of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

3. My first overseas trip was when I was one-and-a-half years old, and it was to the place I went back to last year. 🙂
