I have to say, thus far I have neglected this category a bit. I’m excited to share more Stories of People in the coming year though.
So why stories of people?
This category is different to my other ones. The majority of the content on True-Story is me sharing my experiences and observations. But just as I believe it’s important to go on adventures, ask questions and notice beauty, I believe it is important to learn from the experiences of people around us.
A big part of why a lot of writers write is to tell someone else’s story, whether they be real people or fictional characters. Writing is a powerful way to tell someone else’s story, and it is a privilege to be able to share these stories with my words.
Ever since I was little, I have loved to read biographies, and understand people’s life stories.
Hearing other people’s stories can be one of the best ways to open our eyes to the world.
To reuse a quote from Jack that I used in another blog post…

“Everyone has a different perspective on life”.
Jack
I want to share with you my perspective, but also seek out and share other people’s perspectives. More Stories of People to come in 2020…

December 21, 2019 at 1:23 pmThat collage picture made me happy! I agree. In my current studies, I have found it most rewarding to make a deliberate effort to incorporate the voices of the people I am actually studying (not what I think they are saying). We live near the Logan region, and it has quite a negative reputation. I did a community analysis and found such positive stories from the people who live there. It made me see the city in a different light, and I’m grateful for that.
