Here goes part two of my category explanation thingamabobs.
The brave things in the old tales and songs, Mr Frodo: adventures, as I used to call them. I used to think that they were things the wonderful folk of the stories went out and looked for, because they wanted them, because they were exciting and life was a bit dull, a kind of a sport, as you might say. But that’s not the way of it with the tales that really mattered, or the ones that stay in the mind. Folk seem to have been just landed in them, usually – their paths were laid that way, as you put it.Samwise Gamgee, The Two Towers (The Lord of the Rings, Book 2) by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines adventure as “an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks”.
In my opinion, this covers a range of things: quests to retrieve gold stolen by a dragon, trying new foods, travelling the world, camping in your backyard, talking to new people, tackling a difficult project, reading a book. In my opinion, this covers life. Life can be an adventure which we have landed into.
What does everyday adventure look like?
It looks like taking risks. Not being afraid to do hard things. Standing up for what you believe in. Trying new things. Being eager to learn. Seizing the day, and embracing whatever life throws at you. Having the courage to stand out.
So far, most of the Stories of Adventure I have posted have been from my travels. Those stories will keep coming, but I also want to start to highlight the smaller, everyday adventures.
I’m going to try to live each day as an adventure. I want to step out in courage and eagerness. I want to explore the world around me, and not be afraid to face risks. I want to share these stories of adventure, hoping you and I can both be encouraged because of them.
