Lately, I have been thinking about True-Story’s purpose, and trying to figure out exactly what this blog is about. Over the next few weeks I thought I would lay out the things that drive me to write these stories of beauty, of adventure, of life, and of people. Starting with Stories of Beauty. This is as much for me to figure it out, as for you to know 🙂 .
Why stories of beauty? Quite simply, because I believe it is important for us to see the natural beauty around us.
Allow me to elaborate.
The world can be a dark and ugly place. Sometimes it feels like everywhere I turn I see sadness, destruction, evil, and hurt. The world is messed up, and it can be easy to drown in that.
But I believe, quite firmly, that whatever happens, beauty will remain. It will not always be found in the loud, showy items for display, but, like a remnant from the Garden of Eden that will not be lost, often found in the small things.
These are the small indications that not all is lost.
I believe it is important to remember and appreciate these things, because they represent hope. There is good in the world, so we should carry on.
It is so easy to forget to notice these things in the busyness of life, but for me, it is worth it every time I do stop to appreciate them. These things of beauty bring me joy.
And so, why do I share stories of beauty? Because, using technology to share these stories with you, I want to encourage you to draw your eyes and mind from the screens, from the chaos, and find peace in the beauty around you. And by sharing these stories with you, I prompt myself to go and cherish beauty as well.
I’m going to do something a little different, and ask you to share your own stories of beauty in the comments. What have you seen around you recently that has uplifted you with its beauty? Let’s share stories of beauty, and encourage each other. Perhaps it will spread. I believe we would all benefit from it.
